Learning to type

As well as learning to write neatly, we have decided to learn to type. We are doing this so that when we come to using laptops and other devices, we can type more quickly and get more completed. Each child will have a chance to use a great site called "Dance Mat" typing when the rest of the class are doing handwriting in their books.

If you would like to try this at home too, follow the link.

Points for homework - Term 3

This term for homework (as we did in Term 2), you are able to get 4 points each week! If you get the most points altogether you will receive a pizza at the end of the term.

This is how you will receive points:
1. Complete the homework task for the week.
2. Do the short maths activity you are given each week.
3. Read 4 times during the week. At the back of your homework book, you have a reading log to complete. Make sure you get someone at home to sign this each time you read to receive the point.
4. On Thursday night, take your spelling notebook home and learn your 8 list words. Get someone to test you on these when you have learned them - remember to write the words when you are tested and don't just spell them out loud. (Spelling is a written skill). Get the person who tested you to mark the 'H' column in your notebook and sign this.

I look forward to seeing you all challenging yourselves to get the most points. :)

BUG CLUB

NEWSFLASH!!!
Unfortunately Bug Club cannot be used at the moment. 104 new titles are being added and this has caused major problems meaning nobody can use it. Technical teams are trying to sort this out - I will let the children know when it can be used again.

Bug Club is a great website you can go to when you want to read at home. You all have usernames and passwords for this site - go to www.bugclub.co.nz (or click on the link below), then log in. There are lots of great books to read and activities to do. If you have any problems using Bug Club, see Ms A for help.
